Dr Raj TerKonda, MD
Dr. Raj TerKonda is one of a handful of surgeons in the nation with three board certifications in otolaryngology-head & neck surgery (ENT), facial plastic & reconstructive surgery, and sleep medicine, and is the only surgeon in Colorado with these qualifications.
After graduating valedictorian, Dr. TerKonda entered the six-year BA-MD program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). During medical school, he achieved numerous honors including the John C. Hunter award for academic excellence in anatomy; Lange Publishing Company medical student award; grand prize winner & best presentation awards at UMKC's First Annual Research Day; Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship (only 50 in the nation); and junior inductee into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
He continued to excel during his six-year residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Minnesota. He received a National Research Service Award and the Albert Hohmann Award for resident research. During residency, he also completed a Master's of Science (M.S) degree with research on bone healing, and spent six weeks in Switzerland at the craniofacial unit of University Hospital Inselspital Bern.
After residency, Dr. TerKonda completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California-Davis. During fellowship, he won the John Orlando Roe Award from the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery for the best clinical research paper by a graduate fellow.
